Bill was born in Mt. Vernon, Illinois, August 6, 1933, and was raised in Illinois and Indiana. He grew up in Rochester, Indiana, and was baptized at the First Christian Church of Rochester in 1950. He served time in the military from 1952-1956 as a Naval Hospital Corpsman. Following his military experience he attended Indiana University where he studied General Science. He married Bonnie Ellen Pattison in August, 1965 in Indianapolis. Bill and Bonnie have three children: Kelly, living in Georgia; Kimberly, living in California; and Kathleen (Katie) in Phoenix. They have four grandchildren: Courtney, Cayla, Kylie and Ryan. Bill attended Traders Point Christian Church in Indianapolis from 1971 to 1989 where he served as Deacon, Elder, and Chairman of the Board. He became part of the Palo Verde Christian Church in 1989 upon moving to Phoenix where he served as Deacon, Chairman of the Steering Committee and Elder Chairman. Palo Verde became Cactus Christian Fellowship and Bill remains as an Elder. Bill is a retired Radiologic Technologist and still works part time in that field.
Bob grew up in Southwestern Michigan and attended church in the town of Bangor. He and his family were very involved in the church: both grandfathers served as elders/deacons; an older brother is currently a church elder after serving nine years on the mission field in Thailand; a sister serves on the staff with her husband at Great Lakes Christian College; his deceased mother had a great love for children and his dad still serves the church in a limited capacity. Bob was baptized into Christ at the age of nine. He won a scholarship to attend Great Lakes Christian College but decided after one year that full-time ministry was not his calling. He met Kathie Starkey at a Michigan State University Campus House ministry and they were married on August 5, 1972. God led him into land surveying in 1974 where he has been ever since. They moved to Phoenix in 1984 and started their own business, Location Land Surveying. Bob started playing the mandolin at the same time his son Nathan was learning the guitar. Both served together on the Praise Team at their former church (Community Christian Church) in Cave Creek. His other Son Matt was also part of the Praise Team. Bob says “My heart is with Children’s Ministry. I think it is because you can truly be yourself around kids. They are so accepting and so brutal at the same time. I am also a firm believer that the vast majority of people who make a decision for Christ do it before the age of 16. That is where my efforts should be.” He has lead worship and worked in children’s ministry here at Cactus Christian Fellowship.
Ernie and Kay Johnson recently returned to Phoenix from their residence in Prescott Valley. They also returned to the church family they left behind a few years ago. Ernie has been added to the board of Elders. As a previous Elder, he is returning to the leadership role he exercised among us when he was with us in those earlier years. Ernie and Kay love the Lord and His people and are committed to serving Him and them as a part of the CCF family. We are very happy to welcome Ernie back as an Elder.
